Why Top Gun?
In the early years of Vietnam, aviators incurred 90% of their losses during their first five combat missions. But if an aviator survived these first five missions, he had a 92% chance of surviving the next ninety-five missions. This initial loss rate was attributed to the inexperience of fighter pilots in real world situations. To remedy this, it was decided to create programs that simulated combat as realistically as possible. Top Gun was one of the schools that was started as a result of this initiative.

How it Works
The Afterburner Top Gun program offers the corporate client a series of hands-on workshops and coaching programs designed not only to educate people, but also to change the way they do business.

A Top Gun engagement typically lasts 3 to 6 months and rolls out as follows:

Planning Workshop: We will take a specific real world mission objective from your business, and apply the Afterburner 6-step approach to mission planning to it. Your team will walk away from this workshop with an executable plan that can be executed over the next 3 to 12 month period.

Briefing Workshop: We then teach your people how to effectively communicate the plan to their teams so everyone knows what they are accountable for and how their efforts contribute to the team achieving their overall mission objective. At Afterburner Canada we think a poorly briefed plan is one of the main reasons execution fails in today’s corporate world.

Execution Workshop: We reinforce our tools of how to identify and eliminate the effects of Task Saturation and improve execution in your workplace.

Debriefing Workshop: Finally, we close the loop on the Flawless Execution model and debrief the results of the mission against the clear, measurable mission objective established at the beginning of the planning phase. Using our S.T.E.A.L.T.H. process specifically designed for business debriefings, our Afterburner facilitators will help your team analyze their execution in a nameless-rankless environment, and ensure your people leave the debrief with actionable lessons learned that will help your entire organization improve execution.

Concurrently with the Flawless Execution workshops, one of our Afterburner Corporate Coaches will provide individualized training to key people in your organization, ensuring they fully understand how to apply the Flawless Execution within their team, as well as reinforcing the core values that optimize its success.
